    The Palace of Holyroodhouse

The Palace of Holyroodhouse is the official Scottish residence of Her Majesty the Queen. Visitors can see her private chambers of Mary, Queen of Scots in the Palace's west corner tower. If the queen is not in residence, guided tours are offered. Several families have vied for power within the palace's walls, some meeting untimely ends.

    Edinburgh Castle
Located at the top of The Royal Mile in the centre of Edinburgh, Edinburgh's castle is the feather in the city's cap. The Crown Jewels of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny are housed here, as well as the Scottish United Services Museum and the Scottish National War Memorial. The area where the castle stands has been used for fortifications since the third century AD, and on a clear day the views over Fife show why the Scots simply refused to give up their land.
